Custom Gold Concept BB
Here is my latest work, and what i personally consider some of my best work to date. Not often am i 100% pleased with how something turns out once im done with it, but this little guy is the exception.
I LOVE how this fella turned out, and i am so sad that i need to let him go now as this was a commission.
The commissioner wanted a gold concept BB to go with his gold Lawson exclusive Japanese Gold classic BB. He is also a detail nut like me so every little detail that the actual Camaro had in the movie is on this toy.
How i did it: I took the toy completely apart, i think this is best to get the most details and even paint job possible. Getting paint into every nook and cranny to make the plastic look like it was molded in that color is an important detail to me.
Alt mode sections were painted with cellulose automotive paint, finished with a coat of two-pack lacquer to protect the already tough chip proof paint further as well as add extra shine.
Non silver robot mode parts were painted with the same paint minus the lacquer to prevent too much shine being visible whilst in bot mode.
The dry brushing was done with different shades of acrylic and enamel paints. All coated in a semi-clear coat of "smoke" colored clear coat to add an oily, worn and dirty metal look.
After everything was put back together again and transformed into car mode i polished the bodywork with t-cut automotive polish and wax to give an extra shine. The bodywork is so shiny you can run your finger over it and not feel any friction (in the car customizing world this is how you tell when your paint's finish is at its best), the bodywork reflects the environment around it, just like a real custom painted car should!
All in all this was a very fun project to work on and i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed working on it.
Thanks!
